Younus AlGohar answers a question from a viewer about the meaning of the Koranic verse 3:110.
Main points:
- God set up a strong system of sainthood in Islam in which saints would come in abundance. The saints would come consecutively in the Muslim nation, just like an abundance of prophets were sent to Israel. The job of prophets was to reform the religion: to correct any adulterations or modifications that had been made to the religion over time. Prophet Mohammad is the last prophet, therefore the saints took over this job of reforming the religion in his nation.
- Since Prophet Mohammad is the last prophet and messenger, after him, there would be a gap in the spiritual system. How would people from different nations and regions obtain guidance now? Predestined Loving Souls (Azli Momineen) are not all found among the Muslims; some are among the Hindus, Sikhs, Jews, Christians and even in homes where they don’t believe in a religion. God appointed some saints from among Prophet Mohammad’s nation to solve this issue as well.
- God divided the saints of Prophet Mohammad’s nation into two groups: Ulema-e-Haq and Auliya-e-Khair; both had spiritual knowledge. The Ulema-e-Haq are experts in the knowledge of the Koran whereas the Auliya-e-Khair had some more flexibility when it came to religious laws. The Ulema-e-Haq were responsible for reforming the religion. The Auliya-e-Khair were given the responsibility of dispensing the benevolence of Prophet Mohammad’s message to all humanity; they revived the hearts of people and connect them to God. They filled the gap in the spiritual system after the end of prophethood and messengerhood. The shrines of the Auliya-e-Khair are frequented by non-Muslims, especially in India, for this reason.
- Before the arrival of Imam Mehdi, His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi, the Auliya-e-Khair gave the message on a small scale. They did not visit any temple or church. His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi visited mosques of Shias and Sunnis as well as churches, temples and synagogues. God appointed a group of saints from the nation of Prophet Mohammad to grant benevolence to all; when Imam Mehdi Gohar Shahi came, He took it to the next level. God opened the doors of his Rapturous Love (Ishq) and said that whoever wished to obtain God’s Rapturous Love could, even if he didn’t follow a religion. This is why His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi said, ‘If you follow a religion but you do not have God’s love, one who loves God is better than you even if he doesn’t follow a religion.’
