Younus AlGohar answers a question submitted by a viewer on Facebook, who asked, ‘What is the punishment for drinking alcohol according to Islam?’

The answer: it is possible that one will not be awarded punishment and will rather be forgiven.

He points out that rather than asking what the punishment for drinking alcohol is, people should ask what the punishment will be for all the worship and fasting that they carried out without presence of the heart. What is the punishment for not even attempting to understand Prophet Mohammad’s rank? There are more important questions that a Muslim should be asking.
