Is it necessary to be poor to become a friend of God?
Summary:
A worldly person is one who runs after wealth, whether or not they live opulently. However, some people manage to earn a living lawfully while still having their faith, love of God and divine proximity as their first priority.
If someone has faith in their heart, then they are not a worldly person even if they are a millionaire or a billionaire.
You do not need to be poor to become a saint of God. Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani was a saint of God and a very successful businessman. Usman-e-Ghani was also very wealthy, so he was able to buy a well to donate to the early Muslims in the time of need.
'God chooses his friends from among the Momineen (Devout Believers). He takes them out from the darkness into the light.' - Koran 2:257
His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi is famous for being extremely wealthy in Pakistan. The land He owns in Pakistan is so vast that it would take a 2 hour's drive to see it all. He is so generous that He would spend 100 000-500 000 PKR every day to accommodate the guests and seekers who visited His home in Kotri. All the residents in Kotri and the surrounding area came to know that nobody would leave His Divine Eminence's home empty-handed.

- Tawakul (the root word of Mutawakileen) means ‘to be connected to God in a way that you have nothing to do with anyone else’ in Suryani. One of the effects of this is that God works through the Mutawakileen.
‘The more one has Taqwa the more respectable he is in [God’s eyes].’ - Koran 49:13
- Taqwa means to cleanse yourself of all the impurities in your body and heart with divine energy. Your Lower Self and heart are purified and your soul’s connection to God is established.
- The Devout Believers are God-fearing in the sense that they worry that God may become cross with them; it is not fear of the torment of the grave. This fear is a sign of faith.
- You are not God-fearing until you have divine energy in your heart.
‘Faith is between hope and fear.’ - Prophetic Tradition
- This Prophetic Tradition refers to the state of a Devout Believer. The changing state of a Devout Believer is like a spiritual see-saw. When a Devout Believer’s heart engages in invocation a lot, they become carefree and hopeful of God’s love. When there is a lack of invocation in the heart at any point and they sin, they become fearful that God would become upset with them.
‘Beware! The friends of God are free of sorrow and fear.’ - Koran 10:62
- The saints are those who are showered with the theophanies of God. God has guaranteed such people that he will always be pleased with them as per Koran 89:27-30. They do not have fear because their state doesn’t change like the Devout Believers.

Younus AlGohar explains the difference between Nafs-e-Ammarah (Commanding Self), Nafs-e-Lawamma (Blameworthy Self) and Nafs-e-Mulhima (Inspired Self).
Summary:
- Coming out of the state of the Commanding Self is crucial. People used to engage in loud chanting of the Motto of Faith after performing Salat; this would improve the state of their Lower Self, eventually bringing it into the state of the Blameworthy Self.
The Koran 12:53 says that the Commanding Self compels you to do bad.
- Even when you don't feel like sinning, if you have a Commanding Self, it will come under waves of passion during which you will be compelled to sin. If you have a Commanding Self, you feel content having sinned; this is a sign of recognition for the Commanding Self. You are content when you have troubled, harmed or hurt others.
- The sign of recognition for the Blameworthy Self is if one happens to sin, then he regrets it afterwards. He feels shame and blameworthiness. He thinks, 'I should not have done it.'
- One with an Inspired Self doesn't feel much of a craze or passion to sin. But sometimes the circumstances are such that they feel inclined to sin. He feels he is vulnerable in that moment. That is when, spiritually, he receives a message from his Spiritual Guide. He sees his Spiritual Guide's face and it saves him from sinning. An Inspired Self does not allow you to commit a sin. When the Spiritual Guide comes to know that his disciple is about to commit a sin, then the Spiritual Guide will send a message to the disciple and the invocation in their heart will speed up as a result. This is how they will be prevented from sinning.

Younus AlGohar explains all about the esoteric disease of stubbornness and how it can be cured.
Summary:
- Stubbornness is an esoteric disease attached with the Lower Self in which the Lower Self does not accept a diet of divine energy. It is the result of one being disobedient to their Spiritual Guide or Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The cure to stubbornness is to be completely obedient to the Spiritual Guide. People who do whatever they wish despite being given advice are stubborn and, practically, they worship their Lower Self. Your Spiritual Guide will often tell you to do things - even minor things - which you may think are insignificant. However, it is equally important to obey the Spiritual Guide in minor matters as it is to obey him in religious matters.
- To have faith in the Spiritual Guide is to have faith in God. It is the Spiritual Guide who tests you on behalf of God. It is said in regards to the Fakirs, ‘The tongue of a Fakir is the sword of God.’
- Six months after HDE Gohar Shahi completely cleansed my heart and placed the Personal Name of God therein, I started to feel as if my chest was filled with heat. I would want to put ice on my chest but it would immediately melt within 10-15 seconds. Then one day I heard popping noises coming from my chest and all my subtleties came before me. However, my subtleties had taken on new appearances: they appeared to be different elderly men which I later found out to be the Grand Messengers. The Spiritual Heart now resembled Adam the Eminent One. The Human Soul resembled Abraham, the Sirri resembled Moses, the Khafi resembled Jesus and the Akhfah resembled Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). They would come out and advise me about how to follow the Spiritual Guide and how to behave in spirituality. Then I prayed to God to grant me an intense love of HDE Gohar Shahi - so intense that it is nowhere to be seen among the followers of any Grand Messenger. When I would make this prayer, I would see HDE Gohar Shahi’s smiling face.
- One day, HDE Gohar Shahi was sitting in one room and I was in another engaging in the invocation of God’s name. A thought came to me, ‘How can I turn my back to HDE Gohar Shahi and engage in invocation? This is disrespect.’ An esoteric sword came into my hands and the words began to echo, ‘Neither this heart nor this invocation belongs to you,’ over and over again. And with those words, through the esoteric sword, the Personal Name of God was effaced from my heart. That esoteric sword is capable of removing all else but HDE Gohar Shahi from you. It can remove the devil from within and also remove the disease of stubbornness or hypocrisy. I have this sword with me and I can use it on anyone who proves that they genuinely want to belong to HDE Gohar Shahi.
- It takes two hands to clap. Both parties have to be willing in order for you to be blessed. There are some people the Lord wants to bless but that person doesn’t prove that they also want the Lord. But the moment one truly exhibits through their actions that they want the Lord, the esoteric sword will be used to help free them of their esoteric diseases.
- The stubborn Lower Selves are always in the state of Ammarah (Commanding Self). They cannot even be changed by the theophanies of God. They come to the Spiritual Guide but they ask for the world, not the Lord. If you show respect before the Spiritual Guide, your Lower Self will be treated of its illnesses.
- To be a follower of Imam Mehdi and to appear to be a follower of Imam Mehdi are two different things. There are many people who claim to be a follower of HDE Gohar Shahi. However, only those are followers of HDE Gohar Shahi who have His image on their hearts or His name written on the heart.

Younus AlGohar explains the three types of Devout Believers: Sahib-e-Zikar, Sahib-e-Tassawur and Sahib-e-Ism.
Summary:
- A Sahib-e-Zikar is one who has the invocation of God's name synchronised with his heartbeats. This is the minimum requirement to be a Devout Believer.
- The rank of being a Sahib-e-Tassawur is greater than that of being a Sahib-e-Zikar. Such a person, along with the invocation in his heart, can successfully visualise God's name. The benefit of having both the invocation of God's name in his heart and being able to visualise God's name is that he has two means of producing divine energy. The divine energy is being produced from both the invocation of God's name and the visualisation of God's name.
'There are some people upon whose hearts faith has been inscribed.' - Koran 58:22
- This verse of the Koran is in reference to the Sahib-e-Ism. This is the highest rank of a Devout Believer. Their hearts are inscribed clearly with God's name by God. Some people have God's name written in white and others in gold in accordance with their rank.
- In his entire lifetime, a Sahib-e-Ism sees God's name inscribed on his heart three times. Once when he is granted the name of God. The second time he sees it is when he is at the brink of misguidance; then, suddenly, the Personal Name of God comes before him and he is saved from misguidance. The third time he sees it is when he is about to die; he dies while looking at the Personal Name of God.
- The meaning of God's Personal Name being inscribed in gold upon certain hearts is that such people will progress on to see God. And those who see God's Personal Name inscribed in white - this means that they will not go on to see God.

Younus AlGohar answers a question from a viewer who asked Younus AlGohar's opinion on when people exaggerate the ranks of saints.
Summary:
- This path begins with the Spiritual Heart and ends with the Subtlety of Ana and witnessing the divine splendour. A law is required in order for you to be able to walk on this path without any hurdles or thieves trying to steal the treasure of your faith; therefore, it is necessary for Tariqat to be accompanied by Sharia. Sharia is the law and Tariqat is the path.
- Whether it is a Fakir, a Saint, a Prophet or a Messenger who is granted a rank by God, you can only make mention of what and how much God has granted them.
- Two men came to Abu Bakr Shibly to pledge allegiance to him. He told them to recite, ‘La Ilaha Ilallah Shibly Rasool Allah.' One of the men refused and left. Then Abu Bakr Shibly turned to the remaining man and told him to repent and recite the correct Motto of Faith. There have been a few incidents like this - whereby certain individuals with verified sainthood would mention Mottos of Faith with their names in order to get rid of the hell-bound people. However, what Abu Bakr Shibly caused confusion; it was a delicate matter that should have been handled another way. Because now the pseudo-Sufis can imitate him and make their disciples recite Mottos of Faith with their names. I personally think that Abu Bakr Shibly should not have done this.
- Everything HDE Gohar Shahi does is in accordance with Sharia. In the past, saints would get disciples to dance, build and tear down walls, play sport, etc. in order to get their heartbeats risen for invocation of God’s name. However, HDE Gohar Shahi told people the method which was part of the Customs of Prophet Mohammad: to sit in a circle and engage in the loud invocation of God’s name.
- The stage of Sukr refers to a spiritual state when you are under the divine theophanies and spiritually intoxicated. The Koran 4:43 says not to perform Salat in a state of intoxication - this refers to exoteric and esoteric intoxication. The People of the Bench were also people who would be in a state of Sukr; in Koran 18:28, God told Prophet Mohammad to spend more time with them.

'One who opens his heart (Shahr-e-Sadr) with the name of God for Islam will receive light from his Lord. Woe and destruction upon those whose hearts are so hard that the name of God does not enter them. They are in open misguidance.' - Koran 39:22
- To become a true Muslim, you have to obtain the Opening of the Spiritual Heart (Shahr-e-Sadr). The name of God and divine energy must enter into your heart and settle there forever. And if it happens, then you become a truly devout Muslim.
‘And [God] has written faith upon their hearts.’ - Koran 58:22
- When your heart is enlightened, engages in the invocation of God’s name all the time and has the name of God inscribed upon It, then you are a Devout Believer. If your heart is so hard that the Personal Name of God does not enter it, then according to the Koran 39:22, you are severely misguided. So whether you are guided or misguided depends on the enlightenment of your heart.
- Islam begins with inner and outer cleanliness: purification of the Lower Self, the enlightenment of the heart and the awakening of the soul. Since Muslims today are not aware of the enlightenment of the heart, therefore, they are deprived of the spirit of Salat. They offer Salat five times a day but their Salat does not reach God. The spiritual vehicle that transports your Salat from your body to God is your heart.
This is why Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said, 'There is no Salat without the presence of the heart.'
Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) said, ‘O’ Sons of Adam, there is a lump of flesh in your body. When it is reformed, your entire body will be reformed. When it is corrupted, your entire body is corrupted. Remember well: this is your heart.’
- Enlightenment of the heart is the key to become a truly devout Muslim. If you get a hold of this one thing, your entire religion is within your hand. If you skip this one point, then all else is futile. Lower Self, according to the Koran, compels you to do wrong. In a similar way, when your heart is enlightened, then the enlightened heart will compel you to do right. 'Amar bil maroof' will come from your heart.
'Salat stops you from committing indecent deeds and wrong acts. Whereas the invocation of God is greater.' - Koran 29:45
- People in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh and all other neighbouring countries offer Salat every day. Some people have been offering Salat for 10-20 years, but Salat has not changed anything in their characters. This is because their Salat is not true Salat. Their Salat is incomplete. And what is missing from their Salat is the most important thing: the presence of the heart.
'Successful is one who has purified himself, invokes upon his Lord and prays.' - Koran 87:14-15
- In short, the true path of Islam is enlightenment and purification.

Younus AlGohar's explanation of the difference between Messenger-hood and Prophethood and how Prophet Mohammad fulfilled his roles as both a Prophet and a Messenger.
Main points:
- A Messenger received Wahi (divine revelation) from God through which he establishes a complete religion; it is the name of the Messenger of a religion which is included in the Motto of Faith. After the demise of the Messenger, when the religion he established falls subject to modifications at a certain point. Then God sends down a prophet in order to reform the religion. A prophet also receives divine revelations from God called 'Sahifa' through which he reforms the modifications made in the religion. A prophet does not have his own Motto of Faith; he reforms the religion of the Messenger before him.
- The termination of Prophethood, not Messenger-hood, was announced. The religious clerics have instilled it into the minds of Muslims that if someone is a prophet, it means he has a Motto of Faith and he will establish a new religion. Whereas the job of a prophet is to reform the religion, not establish a new one. The Finality of Prophethood denotes the discontinuation of the rank of Prophethood, but not the discontinuation of the job prophets would do - that of reforming the religion. So then who will reform the modifications made in the religion now?
- Prophet Mohammad is the Last Messenger and the Last Prophet. He established the religion of Islam in the capacity of his Messenger-hood. And as a Prophet, he reformed the adulterations made to the religions of Jews, the fire-worshippers, the star-worshippers and Christians. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) did not serve the religion of Islam in the capacity of his Prophethood. After Prophet Mohammad left, Prophethood ended; so the job of reforming any modifications made to Islam was given to the True Scholars in the religion.
- For the reformation of the previous religions, the verses that were revealed upon Prophet Mohammad are still present in the Koran today, for example, Koran 2:62.
'It makes no difference whether you are a Muslim, Jew, Christian, fire-worshipper or star-worshipper. As long as you have belief in three things, your status in the eyes of God will be like that of saints. You will neither have fear nor regret for anything and you will enter paradise.' - Koran 2:62
- Prophet Mohammad was the only prophet to do repair work in multiple religions. Simultaneously, Prophet Mohammad repaired and renewed the Jews' religion and he also renewed the Christians', Sabians' and Hindus' religions. He absolutely did. His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi said, 'Prophet Mohammad instructed his daughter, Bibi Fatima, to go and renew the Hindu religion once again.' As a Prophet, God had given Prophet Mohammad the responsibility of amending other religions; so Prophet Mohammad appointed Bibi Fatima to bless Hindus. They know her by 'Durga Maa' and 'Parvati'. When a group of Hindus came to meet His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi, HDE Gohar Shahi warmly welcomed them and told them 'There is just a slight difference between you and Muslims. The Muslims received the benevolence of ALM whereas you, the Hindus, were given benevolence from a mixture of ALM and ALR.' The benevolence HDE Gohar Shahi mentioned here was rendered to them by Bibi Fatima.
The Koran 33:49 says, 'Prophet Mohammad is not the father of any man. He is the last of the Prophets.'
Prophet Mohammad, being the last reformer for all religions, had rights upon all religions and their followers. He could marry anyone whether they were Jews, Christians, etc. without having them recite the marriage vows the Muslim way.

- People in Pakistan suffer from superstition. They appear to be Devout Believers, but practically, it is another story. When they experience a minor business loss, they blame black magic; they visit different 'Babas' who write them amulets claiming to nullify the negative effects. However, the Surah Wannas of the Koran was revealed to nullify magic when the Kuffar of Mecca cast magic upon Prophet Mohammad. God's word is the most powerful word - but how many Muslims today know that the cure to any ill-effects of magic is to be found in the Koran? so instead, they visit different Babas. What has happened to their tenets and faith?
- The only amulet we talk about is the amulet written upon your heart. That amulet is one that will benefit you in this life, in the grave and even on the Day of Judgement. When you die and you are in the grave, show the angels God's Personal Name etched beautifully upon your heart. Having seen this, as His Divine Eminence Gohar Shahi says, 'They will not have the courage to ask you another question.' The grandeur of the amulet of the heart is mentioned in the Koran.
'We have written faith upon their hearts.' - Koran 58:22
- God only grants permission to make the amulet of the heart to some people. We only believe in one type of amulet, in which the heart becomes the canvas and God's light becomes the pen. When God's Personal Name has been etched upon the heart, then call all the magicians to try and cast magic on you. If the word 'Allah' is written upon your heart, that is it. Now you are a man of God.
- When God sends a saint as a Spiritual Guide into the world, the saint trains his disciples in austerity and piety. If God wants to test how pious the disciples have become, he calls the Devil. He gives the Devil a letter of permission. The Devil takes the letter of permission from God to the Spiritual Guide. The Spiritual Guide chooses a period of time in which the Devil may test his disciple - it may be anywhere from one hour to 24 hours to one week to two months. The time period is chosen by the Spiritual Guide. During the period of testing, the Spiritual Guide uses different ways to look out for his disciple - for example, he may ask the disciple to stay at his home.
- The Devil is not a troublemaker. He is a servant of God. He cannot misguide whoever he wants. God has appointed him to sift out the hell-bound souls. Every human being has a good side and a bad side. Similarly, when God separated his anger from his personality, it became the Devil. Prophet Mohammad is God's positive side and the Devil is the negative side.

‘Does the knowledge of the Subtlety of Ana and Ilm-e-Ladunni have anything to do with Islam?’

- Forget about Ilm-e-Ladunni and the knowledge of the Ana; even faith (Emaan) is greater than Islam. According to the Koran, if you possess faith in God, the Day of Judgement and perform Deeds of the Heart, you are a Devout Believer regardless of your religion. And all Devout Believers are a brotherhood.
- The question of whether or not the knowledge of seeing God Is part of Islam is tricky. There are many Customs of Prophet Mohammad and seeing God is one of them. However, some customs are a part of Islam while others are not. Prophet Mohammad kept fasts frequently; when some Companions tried to imitate him, he stopped them and said, 'Not all my actions are customs for you. Some things are only for me.'
- God grants Ilm-e-Ladunni from his special treasure to any saint, Fuqra, dervish or Sualiheen that he chooses. Whatever comes from the Koran is a part of Islam but that which comes directly from God is not a part of Islam. On one hand, there is the religion with its restrictions and that is fine, it is sent by God but on the other hand, if God sees that religion has become too difficult for a majority of people - people who genuinely seek him - then he sends Ilm-e-Ladunni with someone.
- The technology advancement and conveniences of this era are the brainchildren of Imam Mehdi. He was the one who inserted the concept of aeroplanes in the minds of inventors; He was the one who came up with the internet and video streaming services like YouTube. This was all to aid His global mission which was to reach all humanity. HDE Gohar Shahi said after posting The Religion of God (Divine Love) on GoharShahi.com, He said to people, ‘From now on, you will be in contact with me through the internet.’
- What does the Ilm-e-Ladunni introduced by HDE Gohar Shahi say? It does not how much one worships, what sect they follow, how much of a sinner they are or how pure they are. All that matters is that they seek the Lord. The concession of Ilm-e-Ladunni from God for Imam Mehdi is that Imam Mehdi will insert God’s name and divine energy in people’s hearts. And if the recipients of this divine gift do nothing else but nurturing God’s name in their hearts, then this itself will turn them into saints one day. This is not Islam; this is Ilm-e-Ladunni. And through Ilm-e-Ladunni, Imam Mehdi is uniting all humanity into the One United Nation (Umat-e-Wahida). Imam Mehdi’s Ilm-e-Ladunni is like a divine sale: people come and obtain in seconds what seekers in the past had to spend decades trying to attain.
